What's The Job Market For Bagless Wifi-Connected Robot Professionals?

bagless auto empty robot vacuum WiFi-Connected Robot Vacuum

This bagless wifi-connected robot has an all-black, utilitarian design. Its cost is comparable to high-end smart robotic vacuums.

You can control the device using the physical Clean and Dock buttons on top, the SharkClean App, or with voice commands via Alexa or Google Assistant. It is equipped with a variety of smart features like home mapping and virtual "no-go zones".

Matrix Clean

A powerful all-home cleaning solution from America's #1 vacuum cleaner brand (based on NPD Group/Retail Tracking Services sales data). Matrix Clean features incredible suction power, Matrix & Precision Home Mapping and an auto-emptying base.

SharkClean is an app that you can download to your smartphone to map out your rooms. Once it's done mapping the app lets you create an agenda for your robot to keep your home tidy or select specific rooms to let the Matrix start an automatic cleaning session. You can also set up "no-go" zones like closets or beds, that you do not want Matrix to get into.

The app allows you to make use of the "spot cleaning" feature on demand. You can select a dirty area on your floor map, and the robot will then clean the area automatically using multiple swipes on its cleaning pad. It is able to take everything away from dog hair twigs and small pieces of paper that were left from a recent crafting project.

The Matrix will return to its dock once it has finished cleaning and empty itself into the bin included. This is a pretty neat feature because it reduces the amount of hand-on maintenance you'll need to perform.

One thing to consider about this particular robot is that the LIDAR mapping sensor sits directly on top, which might prevent it from easily getting underneath some low-to-the-ground furniture like sofas and tables. This is a good choice in case you don't mind that it's slightly higher than other models. Be aware that this robot isn't equipped with an HEPA air filter, like some other models in this list.

Precision Home Mapping

Shark's Matrix Clean Navigation is a precision grid that ensures no spot is missed. Incredible suction pulls dirt, dust and other debris into a bag-free base with 60 days of capacity. Precision home mapping combines 360deg of LiDAR vision with an accurate home map within the SharkClean app to allow for completely autonomous movement and intelligent object avoidance. It creates a detailed map of your space, at night or day and allows for full navigation without causing damage to furniture or other obstructions. This means your robot can be left to complete a cleaning schedule or you can trigger Matrix clean on demand and set room-specific goals anywhere through the app.

"The team at Precision are awesome They understand that building a home can be stressful. they help you relax in an environment where you're anxious about permits, timing, weather, etc." Josh C.

Powerful Suction

The RV2502AE is an excellent mid-range robot cleaner that checks all the boxes. It's easy to use and produces precise home maps and comes with bags that self-empty. It's also less expensive to run than other robot vacuums.

It also has plenty of power, sweeping up debris with its suction opening and relying on its side brushes to push carpet and hair threads into the brushroll. This helps prevent the build-up and clogging of the brushroll seen on other robotic vacuums and makes this one more efficient in removing pet hair.

The robot is equipped with a powerful suction that self-empties the base and high-efficiency HEPA filtration system that captures 99 percent of allergens and dust mites. It also comes with two power modes to fit different kinds of floors, and a remote that allows you to access all its functions. It's also compatible with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant to allow you to start cleaning tasks without touching the robot.

It's a great choice for most homes but its navigation capabilities may be a challenge for some. This bump bot had trouble with stairs. Other bump bots are able to avoid them but this one could not. It relied on LiDAR and infrared sensors to map the home however, it was constantly mistaking my cat's house for stairs and demanded that I move it out of the way. It also had a shorter runtime than advertised, with only 180 minutes.

Self-Empty Base

A few robots, including this one - have self-emptying bases that can vacuum or dump the debris in the onboard dust bin into an external dirt container to make maintenance easier. They are referred to as Clean Base Dirt Disposal (iRobot), Auto Empty Station (Ecovacs) or Bagless Self-Emptying Base (Shark). They are a practical alternative, but they can also be noisy and messy. They typically require special disposal bags.

This Shark model is equipped with a HEPA filtered bagless base. It has a huge capacity. It can store debris for up to 60 days, and does not require daily emptying as other models. Shark's suction power is amazing and can take care of even the most difficult debris. The only drawback is that the vacuum system used by the docking station to empty the dust bin on board is quite loud.

When the robot is plugged into an outlet in the wall and is charging it, a sound will be heard and a green light will pulse on its top to signal it's time to start cleaning. When the robot's battery is low it will be able to dock itself to its base and stop working until it's recharged. It is essential that the dock, also known as Self-Empty Base is set up so that it doesn't get blocked by furniture or other items and is free of obstructions.

While this model is slightly more expensive than the other mid-range robotic mops we've examined, it is solid and performs better on bare floors, a longer maximum battery life, less demanding maintenance requirements, and a broader variety of automation features such as virtual boundary markers. The iRobot Roomba i7 is still our top pick, because it feels more durable and refined, charges faster, and gets stuck on rug tassels less often. It also has a higher capacity battery.

Easy Setup

The Shark AI Ultra comes with an easy-to-use Schedule that requires only two inputs. You can select the date and time of sunrise and sunset. You can also select the duration of the ramp times (increasing brightness or decreasing) and whether you want to turn the lights on at night.

It doesn't have smart mapping or voice control like Alexa and Google Assistant but it has an extremely useful free programming suite. The suite comes with a variety of Windows-based tools that allow for communication and operating parameter settings such as dmXLAN switch and node configuration and real-time testing and rapid replication to multiple installations.

The interface is easy to understand for even the most novice user. It includes tabs at the top that correspond with the various screens that the installer will show, and there are also tabs that allow you to play with the different options for messages and colors. It's a very powerful tool that lets you create a program installer quickly. The application is a lightweight 1.3MB and is compatible with everything from Windows 7 down to Windows 95.
